How the Opposites Thinking & Feeling Become Wisdom

“Where wisdom reigns, there is no conflict
Between Thinking and Feeling.”
–Carl Jung

When Thinking and Feeling unite,
Feeling is not compromised by Thinking,
Nor is Thinking compromised by Feeling

When there is mere compromise between these two poles,
This is not what a real healthy balance looks like.
Otherwise Feeling and Thinking become half-versions of their former selves,
Each deprived of their fuller depth and realization.

Instead, when Thinking and Feeling unite in earnest,
Each of the poles becomes more fully what they aim for—
For with Thinking, Feeling becomes more authentic,
And Thinking becomes more honest with Feeling.
Their unity becomes a greater sum of their individual parts

When they come together,
My Feeling furthers the aims of my Thinking
And my Thinking furthers the aims of my Feeling
One opposite furthers the other,
Rather than compromises the other.
One makes the other more real,
More sensible, and astute—
Thus, my judgement,
Granted such depth,
Becomes Wisdom.

Thinking and Feeling are one in Truth,
Truth does not sit as a drab dot
In the middle on a linear line between these two poles
On a lifeless, superficial one-dimensional scrap paper of “wisdom.”

Rather, like how in a multidimensional universe
Two or more separate points can interact from afar,
The opposites of Feeling and Thinking,
Sitting on opposite sides, can interact as one,
Transform into One.

Carl Jung writes:
“A meeting between two personalities
Is like the contact of two chemical substances:
If there is any reaction, both are transformed.”
Feeling and Thinking are two such personalities.

Like two chemicals of distinct and unique qualities
They must combust together in a space of a higher dimension
Than that of the first (where two poles fall on opposite ends of a line).
A dimensional space that has width, height, depth, and beyond—
One that allows for a true dynamic interplay
And partnership between Thinking and Feeling.

Together Feeling and Thinking realize a Third quality—
A Wisdom and Truth greater than the sum of
Thinking and Feeling merely combined.
